Challenge
After several acquisitions multiple warehouses were in operation which is costly, complex and time consuming to maintain. Request to 4Supplychain was if the largest warehouse close to their factory could be redesigned in order to store all stock. Current design consist of drive-in racking which results in a low utilization rate.
Solution and deliverables
We created a model to support provide insights and support decision making for the redesign of the warehouse. It included:
- Several growth scenario’s
- Capacity scenario’s based on several redesign options
- Flow racking
- 2D Shuttles
- Drive in
- High Bay
- Capex and Opex impact
Based on the model we created different scenarios with related business case. A new design was created for their DC with regards to space, expected utilization and related flows. Based on final design we did a tender and organized client meetings and business visits to see possible new equipment/layout. We delivered project management to execute the implementation in time and within budget during a running operation.
